Step up as Chief Officer aboard a deep-sea vessel trading internationally. As second-in-command you run the deck department, take charge of cargo operations and stability, and keep the ship safe and seaworthy alongside the Master. It is a senior rotational role with a crewing team behind you on the logistics.

Job description

What the role involves:

  • Planning and supervising cargo operations, stowage and ballast.
  • Maintaining stability, draft and trim calculations.
  • Leading deck maintenance, safety rounds and the planned-maintenance system.
  • Standing navigational watch and supporting passage planning.
  • Overseeing crew training, drills and compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL and the ISM/ISPS codes.

Requirements

  • Valid STCW II/2 Chief Mate / Master Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailing experience as Chief Officer, or a strong senior Second Officer.
  • Solid knowledge of cargo handling, stability and international maritime regulations.
  • Valid medical, GMDSS and full STCW safety certificates.
  • Fluent working English.
